Why do I get two kbAlertz.com E-Mails?
About once a week, I get a complaining e-mail from a user that states "Stop sending me two E-mails" or "Stop wasting my bandwidth" or sometimes they are friendlier and say "Just to let you know ....."
At any rate, these all have the same question/comment. People get two e-mails in their inbox, and it would be natural to think that we sent them two e-mails.
I personally wrote the program that sends out our hundreds of thousands of e-mails. I've make a lot of mistakes, don't get me (... more)

Search by KB Article Id
A feature I can't believe you haven't implemented already is the
ability to be able to type in a KB number to go directly to that KB.
This would enable people like me to be able to view details of KB hot
fixes installed on a server and find out why they were installed in the first place.
Just an idea.
I agree this is a good idea.

What does RSS mean, and why is everyone talking about them?
I've heard a number of definitions for RSS, but the one I think is standard is "Really Simple Syndication". RSS is a stand way of communicating information. It's nothing more then a standard XML document, that "RSS Readers" or "RSS Consumers" or "RSS Aggregaters" accept.
RSS for kbAlertz.com is just another way to be notified of new information on kbAlertz.com. The most common way people subscribe to kbAlertz.com is by e-mail. When we find a new article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, (... more)

Well, as you know kbAlertz.com is only showing you content that is found on the Microsoft Support Knowledge Base. Once in a while, Microsoft retracts an article. When this happens, and we've already scanned the Title and Summary, these titles and summaries show up in our searches.

BUG FIX: 24 FEB 2004 Weekly Summary Being Repeated
On February 17th, kbAlertz.com started running an new service called weekly announcements. This was actually an original feature from last year, that died. For about a year, only daily announcements were going out. Even if you subscribed to weekly announcements, you still got a daily announcement.

As of Feb 2004, there is a Weekly Summary available for your account. The weekly summary is separate from your daily Alertz, and you can subscribe to one, or the other, or both. The way the weekly Alertz works is simple. We keep track of the last time we sent you a weekly e-mail. Our engine will only send weekly emails to accounts that have not received an e-mail in the last 7 days. So if the technology you're subscribed to isn't updated for 9 days, you'll receive an Alertz message on the 9th (... more)
